Choosing A Corporate Entertainer

For corporate event planners, keeping attendees entertained is a top priority. Initially, they are not always too detailed about how they would like this to be accomplished; however, they are clear that it is vital. Providing entertainment that evokes loads of laughs – and not just polite, soft laughter, but unable-to-catch-your-breath, belly-busting laughter – is among the best ways of doing this.

Of course, standup comedy is greatly subjective and if the style or material does not connect well with the audience, this could be long and awkward for everyone. Even worse, offensive material could ignite the fury of the boss. Other options include a comedic ventriloquist, juggler, hypnotist, mentalist or magician. Individuals love to laugh.

Another major concern is ensuring guests are provided with a memorable experience that brings about a positive feeling whenever they think of the event and the company. This principle is understood by advertisers and they use it to their advantage. Consider Super Bowl commercials; the clear aim of these ads is to leave viewers with an intense feeling that can be associated with their brands. If attendees are laughing and having a great time during your event, the subliminal mind will associate those pleasant feelings with your brand.

Entertainment must be clean and appropriate for the corporate audience, so nothing offensive should be included. Just one off-color or crude remark can alienate some individuals in the group. A number of comedians are used to comedy club or nightclub audiences that are totally different from corporate audiences. There are plenty of clean comedians; however, there are also quite a few who say they are clean (and promote themselves as such) and are viewing things from a perspective that is very different from that of a corporate entertainer.

Participation from the audience is tremendously important to keep and hold the focus of a corporate audience. A whole new level of fun and interest is added to the show when attendees see peers participating. When a corporate entertainer interacts with attendees in a respectful and fun manner, a bond is forged that makes the entertainment more successful.

Hypnotists, mind readers (mentalists) and magicians are naturals where audience participation is concerned. These performers are experts at eliciting engagement from audience members by making it a part of the show.

In addition, all three of these categories of performers have the ability to incorporate hilarious humor in their act. However, the hypnotist has to be especially careful to avoid areas that could be embarrassing to the participants; therefore, no telling volunteers to quack like a duck.
