A media hub also known as Digital Media Receiver (DMR) is an entertainment device that connects your home network with other media devices, such as music players, television and radio.
The hub can communicate with other devices using a wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11a, bog) or via Ethernet. It also includes an interface for user to navigate comfortably through media libraries, in order to search, play and even edit, the files available to the user.
There are several types of DMR (Digital Media Receiver), some are only prepared for specific tasks, ie, there are some which only manage music, other music, images and video, and there are others that allow you to interact with the Internet, radio and television thanks to Audio Wire Connectors.
Some of the features you can have on the media hub:
- Watch and record TV.
- Play and save audio.
- Play and catalog DVD.
- Listen to digital radio.
- Display and edit scanned images.
- Create slideshows.
Some hubs have a built-in display, others have to be connected to a display device such as a television. Some manufacturers have chosen to build a DMR with the integrated display, such as the Apple TV or the EVA8000. A simple headset with two plugs, one for speaker and microphone connected. With the computer so that it can be connected directly to mobile phones an adapter and Audio Wire Connectors are often necessary.
Surround sound headset (hands-free devices) are connected either with jack to the sound card or via USB to the PC. In the variant with three sound card connector must be connected to the inputs of the sound card. Each one connector is used for the front speakers, center speaker and a bass as well as for the rear speakers. Of course, such a solution must support surround sound reproduction.
A more expensive version has a USB connector for connection to a computer. These devices have a built-in digitization, which improves voice quality and makes an analog input in the computer superfluous.
Another variation amplifies the bass feeling vibrations through the ear cups. The required energy is drawn from batteries or an AC adapter for use at the computer from the USB port.
Modern mobile wireless Bluetooth headsets can now be operated easily on a PC. This requires that an integrated or retrofitted USB stick as well as a Bluetooth hardware installed Bluetooth software stack (software suite). Depending on the headset design available on a PC, then two more functions are selectable under “Sounds and Audio Hardware”, these are: Bluetooth A2DP Advanced Audio, Bluetooth AV audio (headphone for classical music playback) and Bluetooth SCO Audio (for telephony).
