Doctors Appointment System For GP’s

Doctors Appointment System for general practitioners:

One of the easiest and useful tools to use for appointments for your family or general practitioners is Outlook.

Setting up this tool is as easy as knowing the family or general practitioner’s system of consulting:

This varies from doctor to doctor but the basic idea or rules to follow is:

  • What type of doctor is the family or general practitioners:
This is important to understand from both the patient as well as the receptionist or PA’s point of view. By this we mean does your doctor sit and talk with the patient going through all daily history if new diagnosis or even just being the friendly and talkative type and is well known in the community so spends time not only diagnosing and treating the patient but will advise on future consequences on diagnosis and or treatment as well as discuss effects on family and ends up talking about the family or whether you have one of those doctors that work in a sort of production line system.

This is where the doctor will just have a patient come in, ask for symptoms, do a quick evaluation and if something easy like flu or cold and or normal every diagnosis just writes out a script and the patient is finished and leaves, and if a more complicated problem will just refer to another specialist and then will move onto next patient.

  • This will affect time: (but remember this is only for those family or general practitioners, that makes appointments and don’t work on a walk-in, first come first served basis)

Depending on each of these mentioned above it will affect the timing of appointments made as if you have one of those patients that are hypochondriacs they will take more time than your really ill patients that just want to be diagnosed get their meds and get home back to bed.

So it is very important for the receptionist to know their patients and ask questions for those not known so they can work out the timing so that the appointment system can work perfectly.

  • Type of patients will affect timing:
Like mentioned above the type of patient can affect timing for your appointment system as some may take up more of the family or general practitioners time than others, and that’s why having the right receptionists that screen these patients on booking them, so not only do you not mess up the whole day by booking patients for the wrong times and time in with Dr but you do not make others wait longer than they need to.

So a good doctors Appointment System is basically up to the system created with the doctor and his or her receptionists working hand in hand
