For a while, it was all about performance on the cricket pitch. However, times have changed and cricket apparel is mandated to deliver not only on performance but aesthetics as well. With that in mind, we are seeing a new line of cricket clothing with chic designs and colors.
The Helmet
Protection from both harsh weather condition and incoming cricket balls calls for a strong and durable helmet. While balancing on these two, cricket clothing designers have managed to make the helmet lighter and included a high impact shells on the inside and outside. Another new feature is the precision fitting system, which produces a helmet that fits and takes up the shape of the head.
Cricket Trousers
Back in the retro days, the trousers were quite baggy looking, though the bagginess was hidden behind the padding. Over the years, the cricket trouser design has switched from straight legs to slim fitting legs. This not only makes it easy wearing the leg pads, it looks cool when matched with cricket sneakers. Pair this with the new look branded cricket cap and you can literally walk the streets in style.
The Jock Straps
Even though no one can see them on the pitch, you can apparently look chic while in the changing room. The typical waist band, two straps and pouch are now a cliché and have been replaced by new fashionable touches. Today’s jockstraps are either thicker or have been added some extra straps for style. Pure cotton is now the preferred fabric choice for jockstrap to make them breathable, and take up the shape of the body perfectly.
The Cricket Shirts
Flashing back at the 80’s, the shirts had the same baggy look as the trousers. The extra cloth has been cut off, and the overall shape redefined to mimic the body outline of the player. So not only are these shirts slim fitting, but they also accentuate the biceps, broad shoulders and the abs. Shirt branding style has evolved, and smaller logos and wordings are the new cool.
Cricket Shoes
The shoes had to get a little revamping as well and they look a little narrower compared to the old days. They also feature new tweaks like better grip rubber or metal studs at the bottom. The top fabric is also designed to be breathable and withstand harsh weather conditions.
Cricket attire has evolved immensely, and the new trend is taking off the extra fabric to create apparel that is fitting and fashionable. There is plenty of slim fit cricket apparel in online websites today at a bargain price.
